Laparoscopic/Minimally Invasive
Our surgeons use the latest in laparoscopic surgical techniques
to treat a variety of surgical problems using the smallest
incisions possible. Laparoscopic surgery, which is also known
as minimally invasive surgery, is intended to minimize the
incision site thereby reducing postoperative pain and speeding
up recovery times.
Our surgeons, who pioneered
laparoscopic surgery in the Philadelphia area, perform a number
of procedures using this technique. For example, almost all
gallbladder surgery can be performed laparoscopically. This
approach also is used to investigate chronic abdominal pain
which can lead to the removal of the appendix. Colon cancer can
now be treated laparoscopically using very small incisions to
remove the cancerous part of the colon.
Our physicians are trained in
using the most advanced surgical techniques and treatment
modalities so that we can offer our patients the most
appropriate options available for the treatment of their
conditions.
