Dr. Ronald J. Mattson has been a vital and productive member of the Bryn Mawr Hospital Surgical Department since 1971 when he began his internship after graduating from Temple University School of Medicine. Upon completing his residency, he was invited to join the Bryn Mawr Surgical Group where he began his career in general surgery with a special interest in vascular surgery. As the subspecialty of vascular surgery advanced, Dr. Mattson supplemented his credentials with advanced training in laser and endovascular stent graft surgery. Patient demand for vascular surgery increased forcing him to expand his service base to include the Paoli Hospital in 1993 and The Chester County Hospital in 1997 as well as to recruit two additional vascular surgeons to the practice.
A recognized leader in the medical community, Dr. Mattson has chaired numerous committees throughout his career while continuing to publish and present on the topic of vascular surgery. He is a member of numerous local and national societies and has been recognized as a Top Doctor by Main Line Today. He has chaired the Department of Surgery of the Bryn Mawr Hospital since 1999 and was recently named the System Chief of the Department of General Surgery for all of the Main Line Health System Hospitals.
