After completing his research fellowship at Thomas Jefferson
University Hospital, Dr. Anthony Coletta joined the medical
staff of the Bryn Mawr Hospital in 1986 where he continues today
as an Attending Surgeon specializing in general, oncologic,
colo-rectal and laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Coletta was a
pioneer in the development of laparoscopic surgery. He
performed the first laparoscopic appendectomy in the
Philadelphia region in May, 1990 and the first laparoscopic
colon resection in September of that same year. Dr.
Coletta is the author of several publications and has
participated in numerous national and international programs on
the topic of laparoscopic surgery. A member of several
national organizations, he has held numerous positions and has
been recognized as one of the Top Doctors in the
Philadelphia Magazine and one of the Best Surgeons in the
Main Line Today. In May 2005 the Bryn Mawr Hospital
awarded him the Gerhard Society Award for Clinical Excellence.
In addition to maintaining his busy surgical practice, Dr.
Coletta currently serves as the President of the Bryn Mawr
Hospital Medical Staff.
