Dr. Ron Mattson

Surgical Specialists, P. C. was the vision of Ron Mattson, a successful general/vascular surgeon, who worked at three hospitals, the Bryn Mawr Hospital, the Paoli Hospital, and the Chester County Hospital. As such, he had the opportunity to work with the three general surgery practices at each hospital. His own, which was Bryn Mawr Surgical Group, Ltd, and the two others: The Paoli Surgical Associates, and the Chester County Surgical Associates. Each of the three groups was comprised of three surgeons. Understanding the advantages of growth and negotiation leverage, he encouraged the principals at each to consider a merger, and in 1999 Bryn Mawr Surgical Group, Ltd merged with Paoli Surgical Associates and Surgical Specialists of the Main Line was formed. By 2001, George Trajtenberg, the founder of Chester County Surgical Associates, convinced his fellow partners of the advantages of such a merger and Chester County Surgical Associates merged with Surgical Specialists of the Main Line and Surgical Specialists, P. C. was formed.

All of our physicians have held positions of leadership in their respective hospitals and are highly respected within the community. In addition to its three main campuses, Surgical Specialists also has satellite offices in Collegeville and West Grove, PA.

In time, Surgical Specialists expanded its services to include plastic surgery and reconstructive surgery, which furthered its goal to provide its patients the resources of a multi-specialty environment. Our plastic surgery division offers both cosmetic and reconstructive therapies as well as the services of a board certified micropigmentation specialist.

Dr. Scott Kripke

Over the course of the last few years, some of the principal surgeons have since retired, taken administrative positions or pursued other career paths. Ron Mattson retired in July 2014 after successfully leading the practice’s growth and development for fifteen years. Scott Kripke succeeded Dr. Mattson as president of SSPC which now includes a roster of seven physicians. Further plans for the continued growth of the practice are underway.
